Air Taxi and Private Jet Project

In the light of the new Open Skies policy and the resulting opportunities in the Lebanese air transport market, TMA is looking to establish a joint center in Beirut for operating and leasing air taxi and executive aircraft, and to promote the usage of these aircraft type for private, corporate and touristic services in the Middle East and East Mediterranean regions.

To this end, TMA signed an agreement in June 2000 with Dogmoch Group, the agents of Dornier aircraft in the region, and Dornier Luftfahrt Representation Middle East, for the operation of the 328JET, 728JET and Envoy 3 & 7 types. In line with the agreement, TMA will offer the human and technical expertise needed for the project that is expected to offer numerous benefits to various customers and economic sectors. These services are expected to have a positive general economic impact by helping in attracting foreign investments and corporations to set up offices in the region.

In the same field but on another level, TMA was involved in the Syrian-Lebanese Aviation Meetings that discussed the development of an Air Taxi Joint Venture with the participation of the Private and Public sectors in both countries. Lately, this project developed into a proposal for Regional Company for Air Taxi as well as VIP Jets operation. Currently, TMA is a member of the initial Founding Committee whose main task is to prepare the needed feasibility study and Business Plan for the establishment and financing of the planned operations. Once these studies are finalized, then TMA will decide on the degree and extent of its shareholding and involvement in this new venture.

Also within the same context, TMA is conducting feasibility studies on several types of aircraft including Bombardier's Q400, ATR's 42-500 and 72-500, Embraer's ERJ-135 and ERJ-145, Saab 340 and 2000 and others, in order to determine their suitability to the company's planned operations, taking into consideration required payload capacity, flight range, and operating efficiency in the following two main areas:

1. Air Taxi aircraft, as TMA is currently studying the feasibility of this project in the Middle East and East Mediterranean regions.

2. Small Cargo aircraft, for regional operations and as feeder to larger types of aircraft that TMA is considering for the replacement of its B707 in the near future.
